3-Speed Barend Shifter is Here

Here's my 3-speed, bar-end shifter. I may be one of the few people who owns one of these right now. I'm guessing most people don't want to own one, but I won't let that diminish my pleasure.

This means I'm an early adopter -- a term that rarely describes me. Although, it's questionable whether the term should be used to describe someone who buys a slightly different version of a 3-speed shifter. It's like buying a laser sight for your muzzleloader or a like putting grandpa in a Wolverine mask for Halloween.

I apologize for the blown out flash thing in the photo. I'll do better next time.

I've been running a 3 speed Sturmey hub on my winter bike with an old Shimano barcon shifter. Works great, I think you'll like this set up.

A few weeks ago I was talking with my wife in regards to technology and the fact I thought myself to be a 'late adopter". Without hesitation she told me I am a "non-adopter".

OK, not sure why I shared that, other than I thought it was funny. Maybe one of these years I'll get my first cell phone.

so, i am thinking about plunking down $45 for one of these, how does it do for you? i just finished a rebuild of an old 3 speed with new wheels laced with SA 3-speed hub and am trying to clean up the handlebars.

I've not mentioned it in newer posts, because I didn't install them yet. I was debating which bike to put the shifter on until the other day. I decided and now I need to do it.

Anyway, I rode another guy's bike that has one of these installed and it worked perfectly. I didn't even think about it. I've used lots of bar end shifters and these felt perfectly natural.

I'll install it and post soon. Thanks.
